Commuting to Singapore daily
- Causeway (CIQ / BSI): closest to the city; heavy peak-hour jams.
- Second Link (Tuas / KSAB): smoother; suits Iskandar Puteri, Gelang Patah and Bukit Indah.
- RTS Link: Bukit Chagar ↔ Woodlands North, expected February 2027.
- Both sides offer automated / faster clearance options — check the latest arrangements.
Healthcare
JB has several private hospitals — e.g. KPJ Johor Specialist, Gleneagles Medini, Regency Specialist (Masai), Columbia Asia (Iskandar Puteri) — and the public Sultanah Aminah Hospital. Many Singaporeans already use JB for dental work and health screenings.
Bank, phone and utilities
- Bank account: passport, proof of address / pass; some banks want a Malaysian address or referral
- Mobile number: register a prepaid SIM with your passport
- Utilities: SAJ (water) and TNB (electricity) — transfer after handover with your SPA / tenancy
- Internet: several fibre providers, most condos are wired
- Cars: Singapore cars entering Malaysia need a VEP and other formalities
Living costs (relative)
Food, groceries, transport, domestic help, renovation and rent are generally much cheaper than Singapore; imported goods, cars and some services are not. Many families choose Singapore income + JB living, provided they can accept the commute.
